Zelensky Confirms 55,000 Ukrainian Soldiers Killed in War with Russia

Volodymyr Zelensky announced that 55,000 Ukrainian soldiers, both professional and conscripted, have died since Russia’s invasion in February 2022.

Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the official number of soldiers killed on the battlefield, including both career personnel and conscripts, totals 55,000. He noted that many Ukrainian soldiers are still considered missing.

Unofficial Data on Russian Casualties

The Kremlin does not release information on Russian soldiers killed in action. The portal Mediazona, in collaboration with the Russian BBC unit and volunteers, publishes unofficial data, reporting over 168,000 Russian deaths by late January.

Zelensky on Potential Russian Losses

Zelensky claimed that conquering eastern Ukraine would cost the Russians another 800,000 lives, requiring at least two years of slow progress, which he believes Russia cannot sustain.

Zelensky Warns of European Invasion

Zelensky warned that if Ukraine fails to stop Putin, he will invade Europe, citing Russia’s long-range drones and missiles capable of striking anywhere.
