US Ambassador Tom Rose announced an end to all communication with Marshal of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty, citing “outrageous and unjustified insults” directed at President Donald Trump.
Severing Diplomatic Contacts
“We will no longer maintain contacts or communicate with Marshal of the Sejm Czarzasty, whose outrageous and unjustified insults directed at President Trump have become a serious obstacle to our excellent relations with Prime Minister Tusk and his government,” wrote US Ambassador to Poland Tom Rose.
“We will not allow anyone to harm Polish-American relations or show disrespect to Donald Trump, who has done so much for Poland and the Polish nation,” the statement added.
Decision Regarding Trump’s Nobel Prize
The American diplomat’s statement appeared three days after the Marshal of the Sejm decided that he would not support the application for the Nobel Peace Prize for Donald Trump. Włodzimierz Czarzasty assessed that the US President “does not deserve” this honor.
Security and Geopolitical Stance
“The world stands on the threshold of an epochal change. The order based on international law is unfortunately slowly fading into the past. Europe must take responsibility for its own security,” Czarzasty stated during a press conference in the Sejm on Monday, February 2.
He argued that the belief that the situation does not concern Poland and that American soldiers will continue to be stationed there is an illusion. “America is our ally. And NATO is the guarantor of our security. Russia is a mortal enemy. The West represents allies. The European Union represents allies,” Czarzasty said.
“In my opinion, President Trump destabilizes the situation in these organizations, representing a policy of strength and using force to conduct transactional politics,” the Marshal justified his position.
Initiative by the US and Israel
A week ago, the Chancellery of the Sejm announced that the Marshal received a proposal regarding awarding the Nobel Prize to Donald Trump. The initiative was undertaken by the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, and the Speaker of the Israeli Knesset, Amir Ohana.
“The correspondence received by the Sejm concerns the Marshal of the Sejm’s support for their efforts,” the communiqué stated.
