Man Dies of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in Zwoleń Home

A 60-year-old man died of carbon monoxide poisoning in his home in Zwoleń on Wednesday, February 4th.

Incident Details

On Wednesday, February 4th, around 12:00 PM, at ul. Księdza Packa in Zwoleń (mazowieckie voivodeship), a tragic incident occurred – a 60-year-old man died in one of the houses.

The notification came to emergency services at noon. Police officers went to the indicated address where they found the person who had called for help. Firefighters and a doctor responded to the scene, confirming the death of the 60-year-old man.

Investigation Underway

Further actions at the scene were carried out by officers from the investigative and detective group, as well as a criminology technician. The actions were supervised by a prosecutor. It was preliminarily assumed that carbon monoxide poisoning could be the cause of death.

Investigators are examining the circumstances of the incident, and findings regarding the cause of death are to be verified during the ongoing investigation.

Carbon monoxide is an invisible and odorless gas that humans cannot detect with their senses. During the heating season, incidents related to its emission are regularly noted in residential buildings.

The Headquarters of the State Fire Service reported that from October 1, 2025 to January 12, 2026, firefighters recorded 1,735 interventions related to carbon monoxide, resulting in 31 deaths and 669 poisonings.

According to RCB data, one person died from carbon monoxide poisoning in Zwoleń on February 3rd. Since October 1st, 57 people have died from carbon monoxide poisoning in the region.
