Russian defense authorities report shooting down 32 drones in central regions, including Moscow, as attacks disrupt airports and prompt public safety advisories.
Drone Attacks on Russia
Russian Defense Ministry sources stated that 32 drones were detected and shot down within three hours in central regions, including Kaluga, Bryansk, Novgorod, and Leningrad oblasts. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed via Telegram that a drone heading toward the capital was intercepted, with rescue experts inspecting the wreckage. Leningrad Governor Alexander Drozdenko urged residents to avoid industrial zones, companies, and public areas following the strikes.
Paralysis of Several Airports in Central Russia
Following the interception of a Moscow-bound drone, numerous flights were suspended or delayed at airports across the capital and Saint Petersburg. Media reports indicate over 15 flights were canceled, while approximately 80 experienced delays.
Attack on Russian Infrastructure
Recall that on August 22, Ukrainian forces targeted an oil pumping station in Unytsa, Bryansk Oblast, near the Russia-Belarus border. This facility is critical to the “Friendship” pipeline linking Siberia to Europe. Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles recently struck similar oil infrastructure in Bryansk and Tambov oblasts, temporarily halting oil flow. The pipeline resumed operations on August 19.
