Two Dead in S8 Expressway Collision

Two people died in a three-vehicle accident on the S8 expressway near Brok junction early Monday morning.

On the expressway S8 at the Brok junction, on the carriageway towards Białystok, in the early morning of Monday, February 16, 2026, a tragic accident involving three vehicles occurred.

The report of the incident reached services at 4:40. Five fire brigades were dispatched to the scene.

Fatalities and Injuries

Two people traveling in a minibus died, and one person was taken to the hospital. A total of 11 people were traveling in the vehicles.

As reported by Jr. Brig. Rafał Kamiński from the Ostrow fire department, the accident involved: a truck, a passenger minibus, and a delivery minibus.

Collision Details

According to information, the driver of a Renault minibus with Lithuanian registration plates most likely drove into the back of a Volvo truck with a trailer. A moment later, a Mercedes hit the back of the minibus.

As a result of the incident, the driver and the front passenger of the Renault minibus died.

Police Investigation

According to the Ostrów Mazowiecka police: “The cold Monday morning began tragically. Before 5:00, we received a report of a road accident on the S8 road before the bypass of Ostrów Mazowiecka city, in which a total of 3 vehicles participated.”

Police officers working at the scene initially established that the driver of a Renault minibus hit the back of a Volvo truck with a trailer driven by a sober 57-year-old resident of the Wyszków county.

Traffic Disruptions

The road towards Białystok is currently blocked due to the work of services, police are redirecting to alternate routes. We appeal for careful driving.

The S8 road towards Białystok has been completely blocked at the Brok junction. Difficulties occurred on the section between the Nagoszewo and Brok junctions.

Ongoing Investigation

Police officers under the supervision of a prosecutor are conducting activities at the scene and investigating the circumstances of the incident.

Services emphasized that at this stage it is too early to determine the cause of the accident. After 7, the police reported that the blockade would last at least several hours – the time depends on the completion of procedural activities at the scene.
