Major Breakdown in Pomerania: Trains Stand Still

Trains came to a halt in Pomerania on February 16 after overhead catenary tore, causing significant disruptions on multiple routes.

MAJOR DISRUPTIONS DUE TO OVERHEAD CABLE FAILURE

On Monday, February 16, Polish State Railways reported that an overhead catenary had torn, causing significant difficulties on the Godętowo-Lębork route. As a result, SKM Tricity suspended traffic in the area. PKP Intercity warned that trains operating between Gdynia Główna and Lębork could experience significant delays or be canceled on sections of the route.

SEVERAL TRAINS CANCELED

The following services were canceled: EIP nr 8300/1 from Słupsk to Kraków Główny (Słupsk-Gdynia Główna section), IC nr 8328/9 from Szczecin Główny to Kraków Główny (Słupsk-Gdynia Główna section), and IC nr 85106/7 from Szczecin Główny to Olsztyn Główny (Sławno-Słupsk section).

REPLACEMENT TRANSPORT ARRANGED

For passengers on the EIP nr 8300/1 and IC nr 8328/9 services, PKP organized replacement buses. These trains were operated with replacement sets departing from Gdynia Główna station. Passengers on the IC nr 85106/7 service could use replacement communication buses.

ADDITIONAL FAILURE AT GDYNIA STATION

Shortly after the initial announcement, SKM Tricity reported a turnout failure at Gdynia Główna station. “Unfortunately, this will result in a 20-minute suspension of train traffic in the direction of Gdańska Śródmieście. We apologize for the inconvenience,” the company stated.
