Polish MP Anna Maria Żukowska faces disciplinary action after posting a vulgar response to conservative politician Sławomir Mentzen.
Charlie Kirk Shooting at Utah University
The incident dates back to September of last year when conservative activist Charlie Kirk was fatally shot at a university in Utah. Someone shot him, Mentzen claimed, because they couldn’t tolerate his conservative views or his defense of free speech. “What does the left do, what do people constantly talking about hate speech and the need for freedom and tolerance do?” Mentzen asked in an X post. “They’re celebrating now, attacking Charles Kirk even after his death. Even after death, they can’t restrain themselves from hatred.”
Żukowska’s Punishment
Żukowska was disciplined for her response to Mentzen’s post. The chair of the Left party parliamentary club, Anna Maria Żukowska, commented on Mentzen’s post by writing simply: “S***alaj” (a Polish vulgarity). She also published a recording showing Charlie Kirk trivializing an attack with a hammer on the husband of a leading Democratic politician. “Rzeczpospolita” noted that the MP was previously reprimanded by the Parliamentary Ethics Commission in December for using profanity.
Charlie Kirk’s Controversial Views
Charlie Kirk had advocated for “submission to husbands” and discredited Black individuals. He also claimed that “it’s worth the cost of several deaths from firearms each year” for Americans to have the Second Amendment guaranteeing the right to bear arms. Kirk rejected abortion, even when asked if he would allow his hypothetical 10-year-old daughter to have an abortion after being raped and becoming pregnant.
