Police seized 17 air rifles from an 81-year-old man’s Siedlce apartment after shots endangered pedestrians, leading to criminal charges.

Incident Report

On Tuesday, February 24, police in Siedlce received a report of a man firing shots resembling firearms from his apartment window for about a year. On February 13, a witness reported shot pellets passing near their head near the building, creating a risk of death or serious injury.

Police Actions

Police quickly responded and found an 81-year-old man in the apartment. A search uncovered 17 air rifles—two long and 15 short models—which were secured for examination to determine if permits were required for ownership.

Legal Status

The man stated the weapons were purchased for his military collection hobby. On February 25, he was charged under Article 160 § 1 of the Penal Code for exposing people to direct danger of death or serious injury. He denied firing the shots; his fate will be decided by court.

Public Safety Reminder

Even pneumatic weapons like air rifles pose real risks to health and life. Criminal liability applies to anyone whose actions endanger others. Authorities urge responsible weapon ownership and adherence to laws to prioritize community safety.
