Warsaw will create a nearly 5,450 m² green space with walking paths, bike lanes, and relaxation areas in Białołęka by early 2027.
New Green Space Opposite District Office
At the intersection of Modlińska and Światowid Streets in Warsaw’s Białołęka district, a new square with abundant greenery, walkways, a bike path, and relaxation areas will be created. The Warsaw Greenery Management has signed a contract with the construction contractor. Residents will be able to use the new space in the first quarter of 2027.
The green space, covering an area of nearly 5,450 m², located opposite the Białołęka District Office, will be developed as an open and friendly space for pedestrians and cyclists. A new bike path will be created along Światowid Street, and the layout of walkways will enable convenient movement around the square.
Project Features
The project provides that the square will include, among others: benches, trash cans, lighting, and a rain garden. Thanks to this, the place will become a functional space for daily rest and local meetings.
18 Trees and Over a Thousand Perennials
An important element of the investment will be new, diversified greenery. Plantings are planned: 18 trees, over 1,000 perennials, and climbing plants. Some plants will appear in the rain garden, which will support rainwater retention and improve the microclimate. Pergolas will be planted with climbing plants, which over time will create natural, green shading.
The selection of plants was based mainly on native species resistant to urban conditions, which will ensure the durability of plantings and reduce maintenance costs.
Selected Contractor and Work Schedule
In the tender procedure announced by the Warsaw Greenery Management, the company INTATTO Michał Grelus was selected. The contract was signed today, March 3. The contractor will have one year to complete the construction works.
The author of the square design is the Kępka Landscape Architecture studio. The investment is being implemented as part of the task “Green Infrastructure – Green Streets – stage I in the scope of Modlińska Street in Warsaw” and is another element of the development of green infrastructure in Białołęka.
