Major Gas Leak in Chełmno. 160 People Evacuated

On Wednesday, March 11, a major gas leak occurred at a construction site in Chełmno, Poland, leading to evacuation of 160 residents.

On Wednesday (March 11) at a construction site on Szosa Grudziądzka street in Chełmno (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship), there was an intense gas leak. The Fire Station press spokesman Capt. Kasper Korczak stated that the gas pipeline was damaged during earthworks.

Emergency Response and Evacuation

Capt. Kasper Korczak informed that firefighters secured the site and designated a safety zone covering three residential buildings. Gas emergency services, 11 fire brigades, police and municipal police responded to the incident. A total of 160 people were evacuated from the area.

Resolution and Aftermath

The malfunction was removed after approximately 2.5 hours. Residents were allowed to return to their homes, and traffic on the blocked roads resumed. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
