Ten-year-old on electric scooter fails to yield, collides with bus in Zamosc

A 10-year-old boy riding an electric scooter collided with a bus at a crosswalk in Zamosc, Poland, after failing to give way. The incident has sparked a police warning about traffic rules.

Accident Involving a Scooter

A 10-year-old boy was involved in an accident while riding an electric scooter in Zamosc on Tuesday (August 26). Preliminary information indicates the boy was traveling on Klonowicza Street, where the speed limit is 30 km/h, when he failed to yield at the intersection with Ustronie Street and collided with a Mercedes bus operated by Duzgunce.

Collision Details

Police officer Dorota Krukowska-Bubiło explained that the bus driver likely intended to go straight through the intersection, while the boy attempted to turn left. The scooter rider does not possess a bike license, though he was wearing a helmet, which was noted as a fortunate detail.

Hospitalization and Investigation

The boy sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital by an ambulance crew. Both the boy and the 21-year-old bus driver were tested for alcohol, with results confirming they were sober. Krukowska-Bubiło emphasized that the case will be decided by the family court, with the boy’s actions likely to face legal consequences.

Police Appeal for Safety

Zamosc Police issued a reminder about the legal requirements for operating an electric scooter. They referenced the applicable regulations, stressing the importance of adhering to traffic rules to prevent similar incidents.
