Polish myIKP App Now Offers Medical Records on Mobile

As of March 16, 2026, Poland’s myIKP mobile application provides access to electronic medical documentation directly on smartphones, though data availability varies.

New myIKP Functionality Now Available

The new myIKP function is now active, allowing users to access test results and medical documentation on their phones. Previously, checking test results or hospital discharge summaries required logging in through a web browser or searching for paper copies.

The application provides convenient access to electronic medical records (EMR) directly on mobile devices.

Changes and Limitations of the New myIKP Function

Many patients have long awaited this change, especially those using multiple healthcare facilities. However, the new function has limitations. Not every patient will be able to see their data.

Accessing Medical Records and Test Results via myIKP

Electronic medical documentation (EMD) was previously accessible only through the Internet Patient Account in a web browser. Now, it’s directly available in the myIKP mobile application, providing a complete medical history in the user’s pocket.

The app includes access to items such as e-prescriptions and e-referrals.

Impact on Healthcare Professionals and Patients

While seemingly a technical change, this update is significant. Doctors can quickly view a patient’s medical history, and patients don’t need to remember details from months ago.

Data Availability Depends on Healthcare Provider Participation

The function only works if the healthcare facility has transmitted the documents to the e-zdrowie system (P1). Despite being mandatory since July 2021, compliance varies. Consequently, some patients will see complete documentation, others only fragments, or nothing at all, depending on the specific facility.

This inconsistency may cause frustration, as the application functions correctly, but the data isn’t always available.

How to Check Test Results in myIKP

The new function is located within a section of the app already familiar to many users. To view documents, follow these steps: [instructions omitted].

Filtering Data within the Application

The system allows filtering data by: [filter options omitted]. This is particularly useful for patients with extensive medical histories.

Accelerating Treatment with Mobile Access to Results

Beyond convenience, mobile access to test results can improve the treatment process. Patients no longer need to bring paper results, remember details, or wait for documentation. Doctors can assess the situation and make decisions more quickly, especially in critical cases.

In theory, this leads to a shorter diagnostic path, but its effectiveness depends on whether the documents have actually been uploaded to the system.

Data Security and Access Control

Access to medical data is strictly limited. Only the patient and, in exceptional circumstances (life-threatening situations), medical personnel can view the information. The system is secure but flexible in emergencies.

Digitalization of Healthcare in Poland

The digitalization of healthcare has been ongoing for several years, but is now becoming tangible for patients. The new myIKP function supports the broader trend of moving away from paper, centralizing medical data, and increasing patient control over their treatment.

This isn’t a complete revolution, but for many, it’s the first time the healthcare system feels faster than waiting for an appointment.
