Secret Service Agent Accidentally Shoots Self at Philadelphia Airport

A U.S. Secret Service agent protecting Jill Biden sustained a non-life-threatening accidental gunshot wound at Philadelphia International Airport on Friday morning.

Incident Details

The incident occurred around 8:45 a.m. local time (1:45 p.m. Polish time) on Friday, March 27th, according to USSS spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi.

The agent, assigned to protect the former First Lady, was attempting to re-enter a vehicle when their firearm unexpectedly discharged.

Agent’s Condition and Response

The agent received immediate medical attention at the airport and was subsequently transported to a hospital, where their condition is currently stable. No other individuals were injured.

Jill Biden was present at the airport during the incident but did not witness it. Airport operations were not disrupted.

Investigation Launched

The incident will be investigated by the agency’s Office of Professional Responsibility. This event has raised further questions regarding the workload of U.S. Secret Service agents.
