Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon stated the world is “in the middle of a war” with Iran, suggesting potential US military intervention.
Bannon’s Warning of Escalation
Steve Bannon, speaking in Dallas, asserted that the world is “in the middle of a war, probably at the beginning of a war.” He emphasized that any military action requires public support and full information.
Bannon warned that American sons, daughters, and grandchildren could be deployed to locations like Khark Island or near the Strait of Hormuz, while acknowledging the necessity of ongoing debate regarding the situation.
Trump Administration Considers Troop Increase
The Wall Street Journal reported that President Trump is considering sending an additional 10,000 troops to the Middle East, potentially increasing the likelihood of a ground operation in Iran.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly stated that all military options are available to President Trump, and any troop deployment announcements would come from the Department of Defense.
Trump Delays Strikes, Claims Ongoing Talks
Donald Trump announced a 10-day delay of planned attacks on Iranian power facilities, postponing them until April 6th. He had previously threatened to destroy these facilities if Iran did not unblock the Strait of Hormuz.
Despite “false reporting from fake news media,” Trump claimed that talks with Iran are “going very well.”
Escalating Conflict and Blockade of Strait of Hormuz
The US and Israel began bombing Iran on February 28th, prompting retaliatory attacks by Iran against Israel, US bases in the Middle East, and Gulf states, including their oil infrastructure. Iran has also nearly blockaded the Strait of Hormuz, causing a surge in global oil prices.
US Presents 15-Point Peace Plan
The US confirmed the delivery of a 15-point plan to Iran via Pakistan, aimed at ending the conflict. Iran has not officially responded, with Foreign Minister Abbas Aragczi stating they are not currently negotiating with the US.
Reports suggest Iran has sent a skeptical response to Washington, despite publicly denying negotiations.
Details of Proposed Deal
The leaked US proposal reportedly includes Iran abandoning its nuclear program, surrendering enriched uranium, limiting its missile arsenal, and opening the Strait of Hormuz, in exchange for the lifting of US sanctions.
