Six-Vehicle Pile-Up Disrupts Traffic on A2 Highway; Rescue Helicopters Deployed

A major six-vehicle collision occurred on the A2 highway near Piaski, Łódź Voivodeship, on Wednesday, April 1st, prompting a large emergency response.

Incident Details

A serious pile-up involving six vehicles took place on the A2 highway in the vicinity of Piaski, Łódź Voivodeship. Significant emergency services were dispatched to the scene, including two helicopters from the Polish Medical Air Rescue (LPR).

The incident occurred around 3:30 PM on Wednesday, April 1st, on the A2 highway in the Nieborów municipality, near the Skierniewice junction.

No Injuries Reported

Despite the deployment of two LPR helicopters, the event was ultimately classified as a road collision. Łowicz police reported that no one was injured and no hospitalization was required.

Police are currently investigating the exact causes and circumstances of the pile-up.

Traffic Disruption and Diversions

The most significant traffic disruptions occurred immediately after the incident. Traffic was suspended in both directions due to rescue operations and helicopter landings.

Traffic towards Warsaw was later reopened, but significant problems persisted on the carriageway towards Łódź, where services were working to clear the route. A diversion was established at the Wiskitki junction, directing vehicles onto side roads.
