Major Forest Fire Near Warsaw Under Control After Blazing for Hours

More than two dozen firefighting units battled a forest and peat bog fire near Warsaw yesterday that threatened three hectares of forest and wetlands.

firefighters from 24 separate units responded to the blaze in Nowy Konik, which threatened 3 hectares of forest and peatland. The difficult terrain and limited road access complicated firefighting efforts.

The peat bog, which poses a special danger due to its smoldering nature, required concentrated efforts to eliminate individual hotspots.
