The police commander of Przemyśl, Poland, lost his driver’s license after being caught speeding 63 km/h over the limit in a residential zone in late January 2026.
Incident Reported by Resident
The case came to light after a Przemyśl resident contacted the Onet portal to report the incident.
Commander Exceeded Speed Limit
According to Przemyśl City Police spokesperson mł. asp. Karolina Kowalik, officers stopped an unmarked Toyota police vehicle in late January 2026. The driver, Przemyśl Police Commander podinsp. Janusz Kiszka, and his first deputy were inside.
Commander Kiszka was found to have exceeded the speed limit by 63 km/h in a built-up area.
License Suspended, Fine Issued
The commander lost his driving license and received a fine and penalty points. The license suspension is for three months, and all procedures were carried out in accordance with applicable regulations.
Decision Stands
“The decision to suspend the driving license remains in force and has not been changed or revoked,” Kowalik stated.
Commander Discusses Incident with Superior
Rzeszów Voivodeship Police spokesperson nadkom. Piotr Wojtunik reported that podinsp. Janusz Kiszka informed his superior about the offense and the resulting fine. The Rzeszów Voivodeship Commander subsequently held a discussion with him.
Commander Admits Guilt
“I am aware of the offense committed and fully accept all its consequences. This situation is a particularly important lesson for me, which confirms that everyone – regardless of their position – is subject to the same laws,” podinsp. Janusz Kiszka emphasized.
Professional Conduct of Officers Commended
In a statement, the commander also praised the officers who stopped him: “The officers acted in accordance with applicable laws and professional ethics, demonstrating full professionalism and impartiality.”
Commander Confirms Compliance with Ban
The commander stated he is strictly adhering to the driving ban. He co-owns two vehicles, currently used by his wife, and only uses them as a passenger.
