“None” received 4.32% of the votes, while “some of them” received 4.79%. Only 1.13% (31 votes) of respondents stated they had no opinion. A total of 2755 votes were cast.

The Role of the Constitutional Tribunal

The Constitutional Tribunal plays a defined role within the Polish legal system, with its composition and operating principles clearly outlined in legislation.

Constitutional Tribunal’s Function and Composition

The Constitutional Tribunal is a branch of the judicial power responsible for ensuring the conformity of legal provisions with the Constitution. It verifies whether laws and other legal acts are consistent with higher-level regulations. Currently, the Tribunal consists of 9 judges, but is designed to have 15 judges selected by the Sejm for nine-year terms, without the possibility of re-election.

The Tribunal operates based on the Constitution and laws regulating its organization and procedures. In recent years (2024-2026), disputes have arisen regarding its functioning and composition, including issues related to the selection of judges, publication of rulings, and assessment of the constitutionality of actions taken by various bodies.
