Estonia’s defense investment center signed a deal with Lockheed Martin for three additional HIMARS rocket launchers, set to arrive in 2027.
Estonia Significantly Increases Armaments
Estonia is rapidly expanding its military capabilities. The Estonian Centre for Defence Investment signed an agreement with U.S. arms manufacturer Lockheed Martin for the delivery of three additional HIMARS rocket launchers, along with ammunition and equipment.
The systems are scheduled to arrive in the country by 2027, according to the Estonian Ministry of Defence.
Enhanced Capabilities for Estonia and NATO
“Additional HIMARS systems will provide the Estonian army and NATO with the necessary capability to strike at long ranges, significantly strengthening both our independent defense capabilities and deterrence,” stated Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur.
Pevkur also emphasized that deepening cooperation with Lockheed Martin will directly support the development of Estonia’s defense industry.
HIMARS: A Key Defensive Asset
The contract includes an investment of approximately $11 million in Estonia’s defense sector. The project will be coordinated with parallel investments in Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Finland to provide broader regional support for the weapon systems.
Extended Range and Existing Systems
HIMARS boasts a range of over 300 km. The first six HIMARS rocket launchers were delivered to Estonia last year.
Mounted on mobile platforms, such as multi-wheeled military trucks, they can target objectives at distances exceeding 300 km.
