A police pursuit on Ursynów in Warsaw concluded with a crash involving a Toyota and an unmarked police vehicle Monday evening, and the driver escaped.
Police Chase and Collision
A police chase on Ursynów ended in a collision between a silver Toyota Corolla and an unmarked police car on Rosoła Street. The incident occurred after 9 p.m. on Monday near Nowoursynowska 143.
Witnesses reported that police initiated the chase after the Toyota driver failed to stop for a check. The pursuit culminated at the exit of a residential parking lot, where the unmarked Renault police car, traveling on Rosoła Street from the Anody direction, collided with the side of the fleeing vehicle.
Damage and Driver’s Escape
The force of the impact pushed the Toyota onto the curb and into a lamppost, also damaging road infrastructure. One of the Toyota’s rear wheels was torn off.
According to witnesses, the Toyota driver fled the scene on foot between buildings after the vehicle came to a stop. Police officers pursued the driver, assisted by a K-9 unit.
Police Statement
On Tuesday morning, Staff Sergeant Marta Haberska of the Warsaw II District Police Headquarters provided further details. She stated that officers on patrol in Ursynów attempted to stop the Toyota and activated their lights and sirens. The driver did not comply and fled.
“Police officers on duty in Ursynów decided to check a Toyota vehicle. They used lights and sirens. The driver of the vehicle began to flee. The chase lasted for about fifteen minutes. There was a collision with a police car. Unfortunately, the driver escaped,” Haberska said.
Ongoing Investigation
Police are currently working to identify the driver and determine the reasons for the escape. As of Tuesday morning, the driver remained at large.
Haberska also addressed reports in the media, confirming that no firearms were used during the intervention.
