Body Found in Vistula River Near Warsaw’s Copernicus Science Centre

Warsaw emergency services recovered a man’s body from the Vistula River near the Copernicus Science Centre on Tuesday morning, with identity yet unknown.

River Police Officer Discovered the Body

A body was spotted in the Vistula River by an off-duty river police officer, who then alerted the authorities.

The discovery occurred around 11:45 AM at kilometer 513 of the Vistula River.

Recovery and Initial Examination

Emergency services intervened in the Bulwary Wiślane area of Warsaw after the body was noticed in the river current.

The body was recovered near the Copernicus Science Centre, on the Śródmieście (city center) side, and transported to the riverbank after 2:00 PM.

Forensic Investigation Underway

Police secured the area while conducting an examination of the body before it was transported to the forensic medicine facility.

Investigators are working to determine the man’s identity and the circumstances surrounding his death.

Condition of the Body

The condition of the body suggests it may have been in the water for an extended period.

Further forensic procedures, including an autopsy, will be necessary to establish the time of death and clarify the details of the case.
