BMW Driver Flees After Crash, Ukrainian Citizen Apprehended

A BMW driver struck a pole on Starzyńskiego Roundabout in Warsaw’s Praga-Północ district at 1:55 AM and then fled the scene on foot.

A serious traffic incident occurred on Starzyńskiego Roundabout in Warsaw’s Praga-Północ district late at night. At 1:55 AM, a BMW passenger car collided with a pole and the driver left the scene.

Initial findings indicate the vehicle traveling around the roundabout ended its course after hitting a road infrastructure element. The driver did not remain at the scene and walked away in an unknown direction. The car sustained significant damage, and firefighters secured the area.

Driver Identified and Detained

Police quickly launched investigations and identified the driver shortly after. The man was apprehended and identified as a citizen of Ukraine.

Refusal of Sobriety Test

During the intervention, the man refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. Consequently, a blood sample was taken for further analysis to determine if he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

Ongoing Investigation and Traffic Disruption

Police officers are continuing procedural activities at the scene and clarifying the exact circumstances of the event. Traffic disruptions were reported in the area around the roundabout.
