Poland Secures €7.2 Billion from EU Recovery Fund

The European Commission approved Poland’s fourth payment request of €7.2 billion from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (KPO) on Thursday.

Fourth Payment Request Approved

The European Commission announced on Thursday that it had positively assessed Poland’s fourth payment request within the National Recovery Plan (KPO), totaling €7.2 billion.

A condition for the disbursement of these funds included the reform of the State Labour Inspectorate (PIP) to expand its powers.

Funds Expected by June 1st

According to Funds Minister Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, the funds are expected to reach Poland on June 1st – as she wrote on platform X – on “Children’s Day.”

The minister added that a record 100 billion złoty will be allocated to investments from the KPO this year.

Reform of the State Labour Inspectorate

The request was submitted by Poland on December 23, 2025. One of the conditions for releasing the funds was fulfilling a milestone related to the protection of employees.

Following the Commission’s positive opinion, it must request an assessment from representatives of member states, who will have one month to provide it. The Commission will then be able to disburse the funds to Poland.

Constitutional Review of PIP Reform

On April 2, 2026, President Karol Nawrocki signed the law reforming the PIP, simultaneously referring it to the Constitutional Tribunal for subsequent review.

The reform grants the PIP the authority to convert fictitious civil law contracts and B2B agreements into employment contracts. (PAP)

Approximately 30 billion złoty from the KPO will arrive in Poland on Children’s Day, with confirmation of the approval of the 6th and 7th payment requests.
