An 18-year-old woman was found dead in Warsaw’s Bielany district on January 2nd, with her 28-year-old boyfriend taken into custody and placed under observation.
Missing Person Report and Initial Response
On January 2nd, the mother of the 18-year-old reported her daughter missing, stating she hadn’t returned home after New Year’s Eve. The woman’s 28-year-old partner claimed he had dropped her off at a bus stop and had no further contact.
Shortly after, the 28-year-old’s mother called emergency services, reporting an unconscious young woman in her son’s room. Emergency services arrived and confirmed the 18-year-old’s death, according to the Warsaw V District Police Headquarters.
Arrest and Charges
A murder investigation has been launched in Bielany, with charges filed against 28-year-old Jacek K. The victim’s body was found wrapped in a blanket under a sofa.
An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be asphyxiation. Jacek K. was arrested and charged with murder, and a temporary arrest warrant was issued. The suspect refused to provide a statement regarding the incident.
Ongoing Investigation and Forensic Analysis
The preparatory proceedings are ongoing, and a request has been made to the court for a forensic psychiatric evaluation of suspect Jacek K. Prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba from the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office stated that no further information will be released at this time to protect the investigation, particularly regarding the suspect’s motive.
Investigators secured the man’s computer and phone immediately after the incident. Due to the suspect’s refusal to provide passwords, the prosecution has requested an expert opinion in forensic IT. The prosecution is also focusing on interviewing witnesses with knowledge of the 18-year-old’s relationship with the 28-year-old, who had been dating for several months.
