Tusk Greenlights Negotiations as Centrum Seeks Expanded Government Influence

Following a split from Polski 2050, the Centrum parliamentary club is negotiating with Prime Minister Donald Tusk to expand its influence through additional deputy ministerial roles and parliamentary leadership positions.

Centrum Club Seeks to Expand Influence

Following a split from Polski 2050, the Centrum club now operates as a separate 15-member parliamentary group. While the majority of ministers remain with Polski 2050, Centrum currently holds one ministerial post and one deputy minister position within the Ministry of Climate and Environment.

The club is actively negotiating to increase its presence in the government to better influence policy and realize its postulates. Club leader Mirosław Suchoń has indicated that new deputy minister appointments could be announced within days, with Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressing openness to these discussions.

First Female Deputy Minister in MSiT?

The Ministry of Sport and Tourism is a key target, with MP Żaneta Cwalina-Śliwowska potentially serving as state secretary. This would make her the first woman in the ministry’s leadership during this term, alongside Minister Jakub Rutnicki.

Beyond sports, Centrum is also eyeing deputy roles in the Ministries of State Assets, Justice, Development and Technology, and potentially Family. Discussions continue regarding whether candidates will be sitting parliamentarians or individuals from outside the legislature.

New Vice-Marshals for Sejm and Senate?

The formation also intends to negotiate for positions in the presidiums of the Sejm and Senate. In the Senate, Jacek Trela could become a new vice-marshal, a move that Koalicyjna Obywatelska members suggest is fair given Centrum’s four senators.

However, the club may face difficulties in the Sejm, as Polski 2050 representatives have indicated they might not support Centrum’s candidates for the chamber’s leadership. Names such as MP Aleksandra Leo have been mentioned in parliamentary circles.

A New Party Led by Paulina Hennig-Kloska

Parallel to these political maneuvers, the group is building national structures. Currently operating as the “Centrum Polska” association, the group plans to register as a formal political party in May, with Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska expected to lead.
