MSWiA: Project Aims for 800 Plus Social Benefits for Ukrainians

Poland’s Ministry of Interior and Administration reportedly has a project ready for granting 800 Plus social benefits to Ukrainians.

Project Status

The project has been approved at the level of deputy ministers and is awaiting submission to the Council of Ministers. The text of the project is considered completed.

Governance and Stimulation Goals

The prepared project is described as “comprehensive,” aiming to encourage foreigners to take up employment in Poland. The project involves limiting access to certain healthcare benefits while also addressing the legal status of refugees from Ukraine and other countries.

Legal Changes

The new law would extend the period until March 4, 2026, for recognizing the legal status of Ukrainians who arrived in connection with military actions on Ukrainian territory and their access to the labor market. It would also introduce measures to streamline the support system and abolish some previously implemented exceptional provisions.

Presidential Veto

In the wake of the presidential veto on August 25, 2023, regarding support for Ukrainians, President Karol Nawrocki stated that the 800 Plus social benefit should be reserved for Ukrainians taking up work in Poland.
