Storms Lash Opole and Silesia: Roofs Damaged and Roads Blocked

Violent storms swept through the Strzelce Opolskie county and the Silesian region on Saturday evening, resulting in dozens of emergency interventions to clear debris and secure damaged residential properties.

Following a violent storm after 5:00 PM, fire brigades in Strzelce Opolskie county responded to 20 incidents, primarily involving fallen trees blocking roads and damage to residential and farm building roofs. Traffic on the A4 motorway between the Lany and Strzelce Opolskie interchanges was obstructed by a fallen tree.

The District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Strzelce Opolskie reported that Balcarzowice was the most affected area, with crews working to clear access roads and stabilize roofs. Meanwhile, in the Silesian region, the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Gliwice recorded 31 incidents, mostly concentrated in the Rudziniec municipality. No injuries have been reported.

Saturday night will bring clearing skies to the west, while rain and dissipating storms are expected in the east, with temperatures nationwide ranging between 10 and 13 degrees Celsius.

Sunday will be clear in the southwest, while the northeast may see brief storms and winds reaching 60 km/h. Maximum temperatures will vary from 16 degrees at the coast to 24 degrees in the south.

Monday is expected to bring moderate to heavy cloud cover with intermittent rain across nearly the entire country, with temperatures peaking at 24 degrees in the south and west.
