Mentzen Detained at London Airport: Polish Government Vows Response

Polish politician Sławomir Mentzen was detained for over three hours at a London airport on Friday, prompting the Polish government to promise a formal response to British authorities.

Politician Describes Three-Hour Interrogation in the United Kingdom

Konfederacja leader Sławomir Mentzen reported that he arrived in London with his family on Friday morning for a weekend trip but was detained during passport control.

Mentzen stated that after an hour, an officer informed him he had been “flagged” by an organization, though the officer was unsure of the specific issue or the entity involved. He noted that while other travelers experienced brief checks, his detention lasted over three hours.

The politician alleged that authorities questioned his purpose for visiting, his accommodation, and whether he intended to speak at political events. He described the UK as a “totalitarian state” practicing “preventative political censorship,” noting that similar entry issues had previously affected Rafał Ziemkiewicz and Janusz Korwin-Mikke. He added that the country has no problem being colonized by Hindus and Arabs but takes issue with him potentially speaking to others.

Polish Government Reaction and the Position of Marcin Przydacz

Marcin Przydacz, head of the Presidential Bureau of International Policy, responded by stating that while he may not agree with Mentzen on every matter, the leader is a Polish citizen entitled to his opinions and rights.

Przydacz declared he would bring the disproportionate nature of these measures to the attention of the British side, noting that such situations do not reflect favorably on the image of their ally in the eyes of Poles.
