Police Cruiser Crashes After Entering Red Light; Two Officers Hospitalized

Two police officers were hospitalized following a collision between their emergency-response Kia and a Mini Cooper at a Kiełpin intersection around 8:25 p.m., resulting in the patrol car striking local infrastructure.

Collision at the Intersection

The incident occurred at the junction of Rolnicza and Ogrodowa streets in Kiełpin, located in the Warsaw West County. A marked police Kia, operating with lights and sirens while responding to an intervention, collided with a Mini Cooper.

Following the initial impact, the police vehicle veered off course, crashing into a utility pole and a traffic signal.

Emergency Response and Medical Assessment

Both officers traveling in the patrol car were transported to a medical facility for evaluation. Following diagnostic testing, they were discharged from the hospital on the same night.

Investigation and Traffic Consequences

Initial findings indicate the patrol vehicle entered the intersection against a red light. Both drivers involved in the collision were verified to be sober and held valid licenses; the officer operating the police cruiser was issued a fine.

The intersection remained blocked for several hours as fire departments, emergency medical services, and police secured the scene and damaged infrastructure.
