On Wednesday, May 20, the Pruszków District Court convened to hear the case of Dawid D., who stands accused of causing a traffic collision in Piastów after refusing a police fine.
The Incident and Legal Proceedings
The case concerns an incident from October 6, 2025, when Dawid D. allegedly caused a collision with a Peugeot driver while operating a silver Ford at the Ryszard Kaczorowski roundabout in Piastów. He denied culpability, refusing both the fine and the associated penalty points, leading police to request a court trial.
Attempts to Restrict Public Access
At the start of the Wednesday hearing, the defendant requested that the proceedings be held behind closed doors. Dawid D. argued that a civil lawsuit he allegedly filed against members of the press present in the room created a conflict of interest and that his medical history should remain private.
The court partially granted the request, ordering the public to leave only during testimony regarding the defendant’s health. Otherwise, the hearing remained open, during which it was established that the unemployed defendant holds no property or vehicle and survives on a 1,600 PLN pension.
Adjournment Pending Expert Review
The court concluded the Wednesday session by determining that an expert medical evaluation is required to assess the defendant’s health. The proceedings have been adjourned until the end of August to allow for the collection of necessary medical documentation.
