Ziobro Breaks Silence on TV Republika: Tusk Failed to Deliver Prosecutions

Former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro appeared on TV Republika from Washington to dismiss claims of fleeing justice, labeling investigations into his travel and his associates as political vengeance by the current government.

Ziobro’s Whereabouts and Legal Status

Zbigniew Ziobro confirmed he is currently in Washington. He mocked Polish authorities for their apparent inability to track his location, sarcastically suggesting they should look at “Washington Roundabout” in Warsaw. He claimed his presence abroad is authorized by a Geneva passport, which he maintains is legally granted to individuals with political asylum status.

Allegations of Political Persecution

The former minister argued that the current government is abusing the law to persecute him and TV Republika. He described the prosecutor’s recent actions against Tomasz Sakiewicz as a retaliatory measure following his departure for the United States, asserting that the investigation lacks a legitimate legal basis.

Government Incompetence and Failed Promises

Ziobro accused Prime Minister Donald Tusk of failing to fulfill his primary campaign promise of holding him accountable. He characterized the government’s efforts to trace him as evidence of incompetence, noting that officials frequently learn of his international movements only through media reports rather than official channels.

Sakiewicz’s Standoff with Prosecutors

TV Republika president Tomasz Sakiewicz recounted his recent experience with the prosecutor’s office, where he was summoned regarding Ziobro’s alleged official misconduct. Sakiewicz refused to provide testimony, citing procedural irregularities and a discrepancy between the summons notice and the actual lines of questioning regarding his alleged role in facilitating Ziobro’s travel.
