Following the incident at the home of Karol Nawrocki, Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński convened an emergency meeting with subordinate services scheduled for 10:15 PM. The Minister also announced a planned consultation with Paweł Szefernaker, the chief of staff for the President.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed he is in constant contact with ministers and security agencies. He stated that the government will hold a briefing the following morning, labeling the provocateurs as a threat to state security and promising to utilize all available methods to identify those responsible.
Details of the Gdańsk Incident
The State Fire Service reported that they received the first alert regarding the Nawrocki residence at 7:33 PM via SMS. The messages claimed there was a fire in the apartment and that an individual had suffered cardiac arrest.
After the senders failed to respond to follow-up contact attempts, emergency responders were forced to breach the apartment door. Upon entry, it was determined that the premises were empty and no fire or medical emergency existed, confirming the report was a hoax.
Targeting of Right-Wing Figures
This incident follows a broader pattern of false alarms targeting conservative media and politicians. Recent cases include a security scare at the offices of wPolsce24, a bomb threat reported at the residence of Jarosław Kaczyński, and an armed police intervention at the home of TV Republika editor-in-chief Tomasz Sakiewicz.
Interior Ministry spokesperson Karolina Gałecka noted that authorities are dealing with a series of cascading false reports across various locations. Officials maintain that these provocations are intended to disrupt state operations and intimidate public figures, and investigations into the source of these threats are ongoing.
