The Verdict and Penalties
Tomasz Kamil A., aged 17 at the time, and 19-year-old Bartłomiej G. were found guilty of robbery-style extortion, forcing compliance through threats, and causing bodily harm. The court sentenced both individuals to one year of imprisonment, suspended for a two-year probation period.
In addition to the suspended prison time, the court imposed a fine of 100 daily rates at 10 PLN each. The defendants were placed under the supervision of a probation officer and ordered to issue written apologies to the victims and pay them 500 PLN in damages each.
Details of the Criminal Incident
On May 9, 2023, in the village of Chudek, the perpetrators assaulted three minors, striking them in the face and stomach. They demanded money, successfully extorting 150 PLN from the victims, and threatened further violence if their demands were not met.
The attackers forced the victims into a kneeling position, ordered them to apologize, and compelled the minors to strike one another. Evidence of the event was captured by school surveillance cameras and by the perpetrators themselves using mobile phones.
Context of the Dispute
The prosecutor’s office noted that this incident was preceded by a confrontation in the Chudek Primary School bathroom earlier that same day. Reports suggest the victims had allegedly robbed another individual, Bartosz F., of 100 PLN regarding an e-cigarette transaction.
The district prosecutor’s office opened the investigation following complaints from the parents of the three minors involved. Separate legal proceedings concerning the alleged criminal acts committed by the minors have been transferred to the Family and Juvenile Division of the District Court in Ostrołęka.
