False Alarm Triggers Forced Entry at Nawrocki’s Residence; Investigation Launched

Following a false emergency call regarding a fire and medical crisis, authorities forcibly entered a Gdańsk apartment co-owned by Karol Nawrocki on May 23, prompting an official investigation.

Government Response to the Incident

On the evening of Saturday, May 23, emergency services forcibly entered a Gdańsk apartment owned by Karol Nawrocki and his mother following a false alarm. Later that night, Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński convened an urgent meeting with services, followed by a Sunday morning briefing hosted by Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Formal Investigation Commences

On Monday, May 25, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk opened an investigation into the false report of a fire and life-threatening danger. Prosecutor Mariusz Duszyński confirmed the probe focuses on triggering a false alarm and baseless mobilization of services, with the Central Cybercrime Bureau tasked with identifying the perpetrator.

Emergency Intervention Details

The Emergency Notification Center received a report on May 23 at 7:33 PM alleging a fire and imminent danger to children inside the residence. Fifteen minutes later, a second notification claimed the children were experiencing cardiac arrest, prompting emergency responders to force entry into the premises.

Minister Siemoniak Addresses Political Exploitation

Minister Coordinator of Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak indicated that new findings regarding the incident will be disclosed in the coming days. He emphasized that these false alarms, targeting politicians and opposition figures, are highly dangerous as they force first responders to question the validity of genuine emergency calls.

Countermeasures and Future Procedures

Siemoniak stated that while 80 to 90 percent of emergency calls remain authentic, authorities must implement IT-based solutions to stop this trend. The government is coordinating efforts through the police, the Interior Ministry, and the Internal Security Agency to prevent further abuse of emergency systems.
