Emergency services were forced to break into the family apartment of Karol Nawrocki in Gdańsk on May 23 following two malicious false alarms regarding a fire and children in distress.
False Alarms Trigger Emergency Response
On Saturday, May 23, at 7:33 PM, the Emergency Notification Center received a report of a fire and a life-threatening situation involving children allegedly trapped inside the apartment. Fifteen minutes later, a second report claimed the children had suffered cardiac arrest, prompting responders to force entry into the premises.
Police, medical rescue teams, and firefighters participated in the operation. Officials later confirmed that the incident commander was unaware the apartment belonged to the mother of Karol Nawrocki when the decision to enter was made.
Suspected Use of Onion Routing
Authorities suspect the perpetrator may have utilized onion routing, a technique that masks network identity, to remain anonymous. This technology makes it difficult to trace the origin of the false SMS reports sent to emergency services.
Possible External Surveillance
Investigators are considering the possibility that the perpetrator was monitoring the rescue operation in real time. Because the second false call occurred just as teams were evaluating the site, police have secured video surveillance from nearby streets and buildings to determine if the culprit was observing the scene.
Official Statements on Security
Government officials confirmed that the State Protection Service (SOP) does not provide permanent facility protection for the apartment, nor does Nawrocki’s mother have personal bodyguards. Deputy Minister of the Interior Czesław Mroczek emphasized that emergency responders are being deliberately misled, stressing that the integrity of rescue operations is being undermined by these malicious actions.
