Violent Assault on Teenager in Tram

An 18-year-old man was arrested in Świętochłowice after repeatedly punching and kicking a 17-year-old passenger during a tram ride from Bytom on the evening of May 20.

Unprovoked Tram Attack

According to the Świętochłowice Municipal Police, the incident occurred on the evening of May 20. An 18-year-old local resident approached a seated 17-year-old and attacked him without warning.

The perpetrator struck the victim repeatedly with his fists and kicked him across his body before stealing his mobile phone and fleeing the vehicle.

Police Intervention and Legal Status

The assault was reported to the authorities by a witness on the tram. Although the attack was brutal, the victim did not require medical attention.

Police officers quickly identified and arrested the suspect. The 18-year-old confessed to the crime and has been placed under police supervision with a restraining order preventing him from contacting or approaching the victim.

Potential Prison Sentence

The suspect faces a charge of robbery, which carries a potential sentence of two to fifteen years in prison under the penal code.

Authorities urge the public to intervene or report suspicious behavior by calling emergency services at 997 or 112, or by contacting support helplines if they witness violence.
