Ukrainian UAV Incidents in Polish Airspace
On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared preliminary findings regarding the UAVs that entered Polish airspace. These findings indicated that at least two Russian UAVs had entered Polish territory, utilizing Belarusian airspace.
Polish-Ukrainian Solidarity
Zelensky emphasized Ukraine’s willingness to assist Poland in building an adequate air defense system to counter similar Russian threats. He stressed that only collective and coordinated actions could ensure reliable security in the region.
Polish Military Response
A total of 19 drones, mostly emanating from the Belarus side, entered Polish territory overnight. The military is expected to provide a full analysis within 48 hours concerning the incident. Following the airspace violation, solidarity with Poland was demonstrated by U.S. European Command and Dutch air forces.
NATO Coordination
For the first time, NATO aircraft engaged in actions against potential threats to the airspace of allied countries. Participating in the response were systems for air defense, such as Patriot from Germany, Wイドーズ from Italy, and a refueling aircraft of a multinational tanker transport fleet.
