The Polish government reported that 21 Russian drones violated Poland’s airspace during the night of September 9-10, though some entered briefly before returning.
Record Number of Incursions
According to the Polish Government’s International Policy Bureau chief, Marcin Przydacz, the country’s airspace was crossed by 21 Russian drones – a record high. Przydacz remarked, “Some drones flew in, were in Polish airspace for a few seconds, and returned.”
Russian Aims Unachieved
Przydacz emphasized that the Russian intent was unfulfilled, saying, “The Russian side did not achieve its goal.” He noted that all involved hoped such incidents wouldn’t occur and appreciated that the allied response was appropriate.
Trump’s Comments Considered
In response to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s suggestion that the drone incursions might have been a mistake, Przydacz acknowledged listening to Trump’s words and their potential diplomatic strategy. Trump’s comments were seen as part of his negotiation strategy with Russia, according to the Polish official.
