US President Donald Trump has pledged to help Poland and Baltic countries if Russia escalates its hostile actions against them.
Recent Incidents of Russian Aggression
Recently, Russia has been violating the airspaces of Poland and Estonia. On September 10, several Russian objects were shot down in Polish territory, with debris found afterward. On September 19, three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets appeared in Estonian airspace.
Both countries have invoked Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty in response.
Trump’s Response to Russian Aggression
Before departing for Arizona, Trump met with journalists and was asked if he would assist Poland and the Baltic countries in the event of further escalation of hostile actions by Russia. He replied simply, “I will help.”
Trump also commented on the violation of Estonia’s airspace, stating, “I don’t like it.”
Previous Statements on Russian Drones Over Poland
Earlier, in an interview with Fox News, Trump discussed the violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones. He expressed a desire to believe that the objects did not enter Poland intentionally.
Trump mentioned that the US is providing intelligence assistance and hinted at future support for air defense, though it was unclear if specifically referring to Poland or Ukraine.
