Russian Diplomat Mocks Poland and Estonia’s Accusations at UN

A Russian diplomat dismissed accusations from Poland and Estonia during a UN Security Council meeting, prompting a sharp response from Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski.

Russian Diplomat’s Statements

Dmitrij Polański, Russia’s first deputy permanent representative to the UN, represented Russia during an extraordinary UN Security Council meeting. He responded to accusations from Estonia, labeling them as “rusophobic hysteria” and repeating Kremlin propaganda.

Polański also addressed accusations from Poland regarding drones, claiming there was no evidence that the drones that entered Poland last week originated from Russia. He stated that Moscow proposed bilateral consultations with Poland but received no response.

Accusations Against Poland and Estonia

Polański accused Poland of spreading “baseless accusations” and Estonia of “rusophobic hysteria.” He claimed that Estonia’s accusations of Russian aircraft violating its airspace were unfounded and aimed at fueling anti-Russian sentiment.

The Russian diplomat suggested that Poland and Estonia’s accusations were attempts to influence the US administration and Donald Trump to adopt an anti-Russian stance.

Sikorski’s Response

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski responded strongly to Polański’s statements, recalling recent incidents involving Russia in Poland and Estonia. Sikorski urged the UN Security Council to condemn Moscow’s actions and issue a clear declaration that such attacks would not be tolerated.

Sikorski warned the Russian government that if they again entered Polish airspace without permission and were shot down, they should not expect sympathy or come “whining” to the UN.
