On Friday, May 8, a witness in Warsaw’s Ochota district intervened by seizing a driver’s keys to prevent an allegedly intoxicated man from operating his vehicle.
The Incident on Mołdawska Street
On Friday, May 8, at 16:46, police received a report regarding a drunk driver on Mołdawska Street in Ochota. Witnesses stated the man stopped his car in the middle of a pedestrian crossing, exited the vehicle with an unsteady gait, and walked away to relieve himself.
A Prompt Intervention
A man walking his dog noticed the situation, approached the car, removed the keys, and turned off the engine before calling the police. This action prevented the driver from continuing his journey. The incident, including the act of driving, was captured by grocery store security cameras.
Police Response and Detention
Three police units responded to the scene. The man, identified as a roughly 25-year-old Polish citizen, reportedly became aggressive and uncooperative with officers, requiring the use of physical restraint. Due to his refusal to undergo testing, blood was drawn for further analysis. The driver has been detained, and his vehicle was towed to a police lot.
