BBN Chief Grodecki: Poland Will Do Everything to Relocate US Troops From Germany

New BBN head Bartosz Grodecki hailed Donald Trump’s proposal to move US forces from Germany to Poland as a “breakthrough” opportunity for NATO’s eastern flank.

National Security and Resilience

New BBN head Bartosz Grodecki announced that his priority will be building a national resilience strategy involving the military, uniformed services, and society. He emphasized that national security must remain entirely outside of political disputes.

Grodecki stated that while security should not be politicized, the BBN will respond adequately if security issues are used as a tool to attack President Karol Nawrocki.

New Government Relations

Grodecki indicated that his appointment marks a “new opening” in relations with the government. He expressed a desire for these contacts to proceed in an atmosphere of cooperation, agreements, and the exchange of information.

Reaction to Donald Trump’s Declarations

Regarding Donald Trump’s suggestion to relocate US forces from Germany to Poland, Grodecki called it an “absolutely breakthrough declaration,” noting that it demonstrates the excellent relationship between President Karol Nawrocki and the US President.

He described the potential relocation as a huge opportunity for Poland’s security, NATO, the eastern flank, and deterrence capabilities, vowing to do everything to ensure the plan is materialized.

Donald Trump previously stated that Poland would want such a move, praising President Nawrocki as a “great fighter” and a “great guy.” Trump confirmed that such a relocation is possible.

Analysis of the SAFE Program

Grodecki emphasized that armaments funding is fundamental to the BBN, as it strengthens national security. He announced that the National Security Bureau will conduct a detailed legal and financial analysis of the SAFE program.

The SAFE program agreement, which could provide Poland with up to 43.7 billion euros in low-interest defense loans, was signed in Warsaw by defense and finance ministers and EU commissioners. Poland was the first of 19 participating states to have its agreement approved, followed by Lithuania.

Official Appointment

Grodecki spoke with the President on Friday regarding his new role and will formally begin work at the office on Monday. President Karol Nawrocki appointed Bartosz Grodecki as the new head of the BBN on the same day.
