Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was recovered from the Wilga River in Garwolin on Thursday morning. The alert came in after 7:00 AM, and emergency services operated near Wyszyńskiego Street.

Two fire departments were dispatched to the scene, focusing on recovering the body from the water. A doctor on site confirmed the death, and the area was secured for further legal proceedings.

Fisherman Discovered the Body

Police stated that a fisherman who arrived at the river around 7:00 AM to fish raised the alarm. He noticed a figure in the water resembling a man wearing a hooded jacket. Firefighters shortly after recovered the body of a man estimated to be between 40 and 50 years old.

Identification and Preliminary Findings

Authorities preliminarily believe the deceased may be a 41-year-old resident of the Garwolin district, but his identity remains to be officially confirmed. Initial examination of the body revealed no visible injuries.

At the prosecutor’s direction, the body has been secured for further examination, and the exact cause of death will be determined after an autopsy. Emergency services have been working since morning to establish the full sequence of events.
