In an operation last week, Warsaw police arrested eight suspects in Praga Północ and Żoliborz for alleged drug trafficking, with five placed on temporary detention for three months while the others remain under police supervision.
Operation Overview
Last week, Warsaw police units from the Capital Police Headquarters and the Warsaw VI & VII Police Districts, with assistance from the Warsaw Counterterrorism Unit, executed an enforcement action in the Brzeska, Ząbkowska, Mała, and Inżynierska areas. The operation targeted individuals involved in large‑scale trafficking of psychotropic substances and narcotics.
Arrests and Legal Proceedings
Eight persons were detained, including a 24‑year‑old woman, a 48‑year‑old woman, and six men aged 23 to 48. The prosecution requested temporary arrest; the court granted 3‑month detention for five of the detainees. The remaining three are now under police supervision.
Evidence Seized
Authorities seized heroin, marijuana, cocaine, and methadone, plus electronic scales, heat‑sealing equipment used for drug portioning, mobile phones, and documentation indicating drug sales. Money suspected to be linked to drug proceeds was also recovered.
Charges and Potential Sentences
The suspects face charges of participation in an organized criminal group involved in the distribution of substantial amounts of narcotics, with potential penalties up to 12 years’ imprisonment.
