Childcare Workers to Receive Cash Awards, but No Medals

Poland’s Ministry amended a childcare law, replacing medals with cash awards for caregivers in nurseries, effective April 4.

New Law Amendment

The Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy submitted a revised draft amendment to the February 4, 2011 Act on childcare for children up to 3 years old (Journal of Laws of 2025, item 798) to the Permanent Committee of the Council of Ministers for consideration.

Compared to the version submitted in January, the ministry introduced several changes.

Changes to Caregiver Day Recognition

The revisions primarily concern provisions establishing a caregiver day for small children, set for April 4.

The initial draft law had stipulated that caregivers employed in nurseries, children’s clubs, and daycare points could be awarded the “meritorious for early childhood education” medal, combined with a financial reward.
