Consul Criticizes Planned Assault on Ukrainian Students at Slupsk School

On November 29, a lawyer warned that Ukrainian students were to be beaten outside a Slupsk school, sparking the Gdańsk Consul General to demand swift Polish police action.

Consul General Responds

Consul General Olesandr Płodysty said he received police notification that an official investigation had begun into the alleged violence. He urged the Polish authorities to handle the case fairly and objectively, stressing that nationality‑based incidents must be taken seriously.

He warned that if the circulated videos prove authentic, “consequences must be drawn.” The consul also expressed regret that parents of the affected students had not reported earlier, saying this could have prevented the situation.

Police Investigation

According to the police, a parent first approached the precinct but was told that a neighborhood officer was unavailable. The head of Slupsk police ordered the start of an investigation after media reports of the refusal.

During preliminary findings, a boy went to the station with his parent and, due to injuries, was advised to seek medical care. The complaint was officially accepted the following day, with officers securing surveillance footage and medical records.

Alleged Threats and Violence

Lawyer Dawid Dehnert posted on social media that a teacher at a Slupsk school had insulted Ukrainian students, calling them “suckers” and saying that if he were an exam examiner, no Ukrainian would pass.

After the school session, Ukrainian students were threatened with a beating outside the school by older students, who allegedly struck them in the face and back of the head. Both victims suffered serious injuries, including fractured clavicles and suspected concussions.
