A 44-year-old courier company employee created fake claims in the system, defrauding her employer of nearly 150,000 złoty.
Arrest and Charges
Officers from the Capital Department for Combating Economic Crime have arrested a female employee of one of the courier companies who, by creating fake claims in the system, defrauded the company of nearly 150,000 złoty. The 44-year-old has already been charged with computer fraud, which carries a penalty of up to 5 years in prison.
Method of Fraud
As an employee of the company’s complaints department, the 44-year-old had access to the computer system. By impersonating real business entities, she created fake claims. To receive payments for the claims, she entered her own bank accounts, then personally approved the claims and transferred payment orders to the finance department.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
According to police investigators, between February 2023 and January this year, she could have created about 190 fake claims. As a result, approximately 150,000 złoty flowed into her accounts. The suspect has been charged with continuous computer fraud. The proceedings in this case are supervised by the Warsaw Ochota Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
