Czarnek Attacks Czarzasty, Warns of High Easter Bills

Przemysław Czarnek sharply criticized Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty and the government in Katowice, linking rising fuel and energy costs to potential legislative solutions.

Czarnek’s Attack on Czarzasty and the Government

Przemysław Czarnek, during a meeting with voters in Katowice, launched a strong attack on Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty and the current government. He connected the increasing prices of fuels and energy with his own legislative proposals.

The PiS candidate for prime minister argued that the upcoming Easter holidays would be marked by high bills for electricity, gas, heating, and expensive fuel.

Proposed Tax and Excise Duty Reductions

Czarnek presented draft laws proposing a temporary reduction in VAT and excise duty on fuel. He stated that this solution could quickly translate into a price decrease at gas stations, potentially by around one złoty per liter.

During his speech, he accused the ruling parties of failing to react to the rising cost of living and directly questioned Czarzasty about why the bill wasn’t being processed.

Direct Criticism of Czarzasty

“These will be holidays of gigantic bills for electricity, gas, heating, and fuel. Who will be able to afford to buy all the beautiful products that have always accompanied Easter in Poland?” Czarnek exclaimed.

He directly addressed Czarzasty, stating, “You can afford all this, comrade, but these people cannot. Why are you holding this bill, because Tusk told you to?”

Opposition to the ETS System

Czarnek also addressed the ETS system, the EU Emissions Trading System. He recalled that PiS had submitted a resolution calling on the government to take action to withdraw Poland from the system.

According to Czarnek, ETS contributes to rising energy costs and burdens household budgets.

Concerns over ETS2 Expansion

The politician also critically assessed the planned expansion of the system to include the so-called ETS2, which would cover, among other things, transport and construction. He believes that new regulations could further increase the cost of living.

He argued that without the ETS system, energy and heating prices could be significantly lower.

Emphasis on Domestic Energy Resources

During the meeting, Czarnek also spoke about the need to return to greater use of domestic energy resources, including coal. He argued that Poland should base its energy policy on its own resources, not on solutions that, in his opinion, do not suit national conditions.

Broader Context of Fuel and Energy Prices

The issue of fuel and energy prices also appears in public debate in the context of the international situation and fluctuations in the oil market. The government emphasizes that domestic fuel reserves are stable and companies are limiting the effects of price increases.

Opposition politicians, however, point to the need for tax measures that could alleviate the burden on drivers and households.
