Czarnek Dismisses Morawiecki’s Association Amid PiS Internal Tensions

During a Tuesday press conference, PiS prime ministerial candidate Przemysław Czarnek downplayed the significance of former PM Mateusz Morawiecki’s new association, while attacking TVN for failing to cover broader national crises.

Czarnek Rejects Internal Factionalism

On Tuesday, June 2, Przemysław Czarnek emphasized that as the PiS candidate for prime minister, he has no interest in individual associations. He stated that the party functions as a broad foundation where various viewpoints can coexist without the need for splinter groups.

The comments followed reports of a scheduled PiS Political Committee meeting at the party headquarters on Nowogrodzka Street. The agenda included discussions regarding “Rozwój Plus,” an expert forum founded by Mateusz Morawiecki in April, which has sparked internal concerns over a potential shift in the party’s center of gravity.

TVN Confrontation and National Priorities

When questioned about the association, Czarnek turned his fire on TVN, accusing the broadcaster of ignoring critical national issues. He pointed to failing healthcare, the National Health Fund’s refusal to fund district hospitals, and rising unemployment among the youth as topics the station neglects.

Czarnek dismissed the interest in Morawiecki’s initiative, labeling it the least important and least interesting topic for the Polish public. Reports suggest that behind the scenes, there is growing speculation about a potential rift within PiS, with some members suggesting Morawiecki may form his own party post-election.

Opposition to UPA Commemoration

Czarnek also addressed President Volodymyr Zelensky’s decision to name a Ukrainian military unit after the “Heroes of the UPA.” He likened the decision to Germany naming a unit after Nazi figures, calling it an absurdly harmful move that demands immediate reconsideration.

The PiS politician demanded that Prime Minister Donald Tusk resume legislative work on a bill prohibiting the promotion of “banderism” in Poland. He referenced a proposal he previously co-authored with Karol Nawrocki, which would implement strict penalties for such activities.
