Defend Greenland from the US? Or Join Them Under the Golden Dome

European politicians react absurdly to US military presence in Greenland, while Trump and Vance assert American interests in the Danish territory.

European Absurdity Over Greenland

The arrival of two military planes carrying dozens of soldiers on the world’s largest island has been portrayed in mainstream media as preparations to defend against US annexation, a scenario that belongs in a political comedy.

In Germany, a serious poll asked citizens if they would be willing to defend Greenland from America, with 62% responding affirmatively.

NATO and Romanian Reactions

Even in distant Romania, a journalist fixated on the topic managed to extract from the defense minister a statement suggesting consideration of Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, or at least forming a “coalition of the willing.”

American Assertions of Interest

President Donald Trump announced directly in his characteristic style that he simply needs Greenland and cannot allow the situation where the island “swarms” with Chinese and Russian units.

J.D. Vance adopted his disapproving security guard demeanor to state that if Europe does not ensure security for the Danish province, the United States will have to “step in.”

Greenland and Danish Openness

These assertions come despite the far-reaching openness of both Danes and Greenlanders, who are willing to allow the American military to establish as many bases on the island as they desire.
